The VO-7630 is a low-band U-matic recorder intended primarily for the industrial/education market. Low band was never considered a broadcast medium due to it's low resolution, but it was one of the first successful video cassette type formats to exist. The unit has the unusual capability of playing back NTSC and Secam as well as PAL so can play all international formats. The VO-7630 is not as sophisticated as the VO-9000 series edit recorders which can play both low and high bands, but then it doesn't need to be. It is fully optimised for low-band playback therefore able to give better picture reproduction for low-band and heads that are designed better to handle the low-band oxide formulation tapes.
